Corporate events and team building in Osona: why choose a farmhouse

A farmhouse is a great choice for corporate events near Barcelona because it gives you what is hard to find in a hotel or a city venue: a place reserved for your team alone, nature all around, and enough different spaces to move from a meeting to lunch without going anywhere else. At La Masseria de Mas Vall-llovera, a 15th-century masia in Tona, Osona, about 50 minutes from Barcelona, we host groups of 10 to 100 people with exclusive use of the whole estate. This guide explains what works well, which formats fit and how to prepare.

Why choose a farmhouse for a corporate event?

A hotel meeting room is fine for a presentation, but it is hard for people to switch off. This is what companies value most about a farmhouse:

• Exclusive use. La Masseria de Mas Vall-llovera hosts only one event at a time, so you never share the space with another group.
• Privacy. You can talk about results, plans or internal changes in peace.
• Nature. The estate has 5 hectares of private land with views over the Tona valley and the Montseny mountains.
• Close to Barcelona. Tona is about 50 minutes by car, close enough for a day trip.
• Parking. There is a private car park inside the estate for 60 cars.
• Group size. The venue works for groups of 10 to 100.

What corporate events can you hold near Barcelona in a farmhouse?

A masia with several spaces adapts to very different formats. These are the most common (you can also see the other celebrations we host):

Team building days

A day away from the office with group activities, a good lunch and time for people to get to know each other.

Company lunches and dinners

In good weather, lunch can be served in La Plaça Major (the main courtyard); if it turns cool, in La Sala Interior.

End-of-year parties

For a Christmas or end-of-season party, the afternoon and evening slot (16:00 to 00:00) lets you start with drinks and finish on the dance floor. Amplified music outdoors is allowed until 00:00.

Strategy days and offsites

La Sala Interior (the indoor hall) is air-conditioned and seats 70, which makes it the natural place for working sessions. You can alternate blocks of work with breaks in the garden.

Client events

A product launch, a supplier meeting or a thank-you event for clients all benefit from a setting with character.

Family days

If you want to invite your team's families, you can add the kids' area with a trampoline and inflatables as an optional extra.

Team building ideas for a farmhouse in Catalonia

At La Masseria we provide the venue; we do not run activities ourselves. Sessions are organised by your company or the suppliers you hire. Some ideas that work well:

• Outdoor games on the lawn. El Jardí (the garden) has 250 m² of lawn: plenty of room for treasure hunts, team games or cooperation challenges.
• Cooking together. With our barbecue service (equipment, charcoal and cleaning included) you can hold a barbecue where each team takes charge of one part. Another option is a paella prepared with your chosen caterer, with the team lending a hand.
• Walks on the estate. The 5 hectares of nature suit walks and small-group conversations.
• Workshops. Creativity, communication or cooking: La Sala Interior and La Plaça Major both work for sessions around tables or in a circle.
• Yoga or wellbeing. A morning session on the lawn, looking out at the Montseny, to start the day.

Please bear in mind the house rules: no fireworks, sky lanterns or flares; nothing may be nailed, screwed or stuck to the stone, beams or arches; and smoking is only allowed outdoors. If an activity needs any setting up, let us know in advance.

How to use each space through the day

All the spaces are included in the exclusive hire. You can see them all on our spaces page.

• El Jardí: 250 m² of lawn with views of the valley and the Montseny. Ideal for the welcome, activities and the group photo. If you want shade or shelter, marquees or tipis can be installed.
• La Plaça Major: the heart of the masia, with traditional stone arches. Perfect for an outdoor lunch, drinks or an evening party. It includes La Bodega de la Masseria de Mas Vall-llovera, a bar built into the stone arcade, and a green area.
• La Sala Interior: an air-conditioned hall for 70 seated guests or 100 standing. Use it for working sessions, for lunch if the weather turns, or as a dance floor. It has basic furniture and an office kitchen with fridge, ceramic hob, microwave and dishwasher.
• La Sala Relax: the restored old stable, with original stone walls and wooden beams. A quiet corner next to La Plaça Major.
• La Sala dels Nuvis: for events other than weddings, this room must be requested. It can be handy if you need a small, separate space; just ask us.

Free choice of catering: you pick the food

There is no in-house catering at La Masseria. Catering is free choice: you can bring any caterer you like or your own food, and if you need suggestions we can recommend trusted suppliers.

For a company, this means:

• You can work with a supplier you already know, or one that fits your budget.
• You choose the format: welcome breakfast, sit-down lunch, sharing platters or a barbecue with our service.
• You have more control over your team's dietary needs: allergies, intolerances, vegetarian or vegan options.

The office kitchen in La Sala Interior helps with logistics, but it is not a commercial kitchen, so check with your caterer what they need to bring.

Practical checklist: what to prepare and what to ask

1. Headcount. Get an approximate number early.
2. Dietary needs. Collect them with your sign-up form and pass them on to the caterer in good time.
3. Transport. Organise a coach or car-sharing. The estate car park holds 60 cars.
4. Timing. Daytime (11:00-20:00) or afternoon and evening (16:00-00:00), and whether you need any extra hours.
5. Plan B. Decide which activities move into La Sala Interior if it rains.
6. Suppliers. Caterer, facilitators, instructors or music: confirm arrival and set-up times.

And these are the questions we suggest asking any venue, ours or another:

• Is the venue exclusive to our group?
• What technical equipment is available? If you need a projector, screen, sound system or internet connection, ask directly rather than assuming.
• What is included in the hire, and what counts as an extra?
• What is access like for a coach and for the caterer's vehicles?
